On December 8th Traverse City C.C. Equipment Manager Mitch Hunt and Golf Course Superintendent Steve Hammon hosted more than 35 current and new MiGCSA Members at the Equipment Managers Seminar. This event was not limited to just Equipment Managers as there were plenty of Industry Partners and Golf Course Superintendents as well. The attendees came from all over the state including Spring Lake, Lansing, Clarkston, Grand Rapids, Gaylord, Detroit & Portage.
The education was wide ranging from communication, time management, shop equipment to employee training to reduce expenses, equipment & budgets. The speakers were Mitch & Steve along with Ben Beard from American Dunes and John Garlets from Spartan Distributors. The theme for the day was showing equipment managers how to lead out in the positions to be more efficient & organized.
At the end of the day a full tour of the newly remodeled shop & state-of-the-art equipment including a Renegade parts washer, Foley United grinder a shop hoist with removable panels, work benches with new steel work surfaces and a Durham cabinetry.
Thanks to Executive Chef Jack Wenz a fantastic lunch was delivered to the shop. The event concluded with a huge raffle that included a Makita cordless radio with a charger and two batteries, hats, shirts, magnetic tray, mugs, cups, flashlights, hardback notebooks & a volt ohm meters. A special shout-out to Micah Wise from Site-One and John Garlets from Reinders Inc. for these prizes. It was great to also have special guest, Michigan’s own, Hector Velasquez from Hector’s shop in attendance.
Thank you to the MiGCSA and our Industry Partners without them we would not be able to do events like this at such a low cost.
Stay tuned to MiGCSA communication channels for more events coming soon!
