It’s 25 chances to win free golf for $20 in the 2023 Michigan Golf Hall of Fame Raffle.
Purchasing a $20 ticket, one of just 750 being sold, gives golfers a chance to win one of 25 golf foursomes or threesomes with a member at 25 of Michigan’s finest golf course properties.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online by going to mghof.org. All proceeds fund the MGHOF via the Michigan Golf Foundation.
The prizes will be drawn on Oct. 29 when the 2023 Class of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame is inducted in ceremonies at Ferris State University’s Katke Golf Club, home of the Ken Janke Senior Golf Learning Center and the hall of fame.
The foursome winners will be drawn in this order of golf facilities that are helping preserve Michigan’s golf history: American Dunes, Angels Crossing, Battle Creek Country Club, Belvedere, Black Lake, BOYNE Golf (choice of the Alpine, The Monument, Crooked Tree, Donald Ross Memorial or Moor), College Fields, Crystal Downs, Forest Akers West, Gaylord Golf Club, Grosse Ile G&CC, Indian River, Interlochen, Country Club of Jackson, Katke at Ferris State, Oakland Hills South, Pilgrim’s Run, Plum Hollow, Oakland University (choice of Sharf or Katke-Cousins), RedWater Properties (choice of Macatawa, Muskegon CC, StoneWater, Sunnybrook, Thousand Oaks or Watermark CC), Saginaw CC, Spring Lake CC, Spring Meadows CC, University of Michigan GC and Washtenaw.
Earlier this summer the newest MGHOF class was announced. It includes the late Gerald “Jerry” Faubel, superintendent at Saginaw Country Club for over 35 years and a national turfgrass leader, Doug LaBelle of Mount Pleasant, twice a PGA Tour player in 16 years on professional golf tours around the world, and Jean Murray of Mount Pleasant, a standout player, Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Honorary Governor and high school golf coach. The 2023 class will bring the number of inductees to 137.
In addition, the MGHOF has voted to present its sixth Special Award in history to the Michigan Section PGA, which in 2022 celebrated its 100th year of service to golf through its member professionals.
The MGHOF is a heralded collection of portraits, plaques and memorabilia that currently commemorates 134 members, including Walter Hagen, Chuck Kocsis, Al Watrous, Shirley Spork and more current notables Dave and Mike Hill, Dan Pohl, Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins. The collection is housed and displayed in the Ken Janke Sr. Golf Learning Center at Ferris State University’s Katke facility. The late Ken Janke Sr. is both a co-founder and a member of the MGHOF.
The MGHOF is administered by the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame Committee, which is funded through the non-profit Michigan Golf Foundation (501(c) (3) since 1996 and includes 16 people representing a cross-section of the state’s golf associations as well as golf media. The MGHOF committee conducts an annual election to recognize the achievements of competitive Michigan golfers, but also accomplishments of individuals who have contributed to the growth of the game.
