MiGCSA Board Member Craig McKinley hosted the 16th annual State Championship, the MiGCSA Major, on October 11th at Bucks Run G.C. in Mt. Pleasant. This event is not just for those competing for the trophy there is also a 1 of 4 net team event so everyone can get in the game. The golf course had rave reviews, especially since aerification happened just two weeks prior.
The 2023 event was well contested with eight rounds in the 70’s. But the lowest round was Mike Gianopoulos from Kent Country Club who shot 72. The low net champion is Nick Shaw who shot a net 65 to win. Congratulations to both of our individual winners!
The best 1 of 4 net game was won by the team of Nicholas Shaw, Eric Casper, Jon Siler & Mike Still. The long drives were won by Chet VandenBerg & Mike Gianopoulos. The closest to the pins were won by Dylan Barry, Bob Klingbeil, Jon Siler & Ron Rebone. The longest putt was won by Bob Stipcak.
With this win Mike will be heading to the Michigan Open in 2024 thanks to the exemption offered by the Michigan PGA. Thank you to our 2023 Industry Partners for making events like these possible.
